How to Stop Grandad Crashing His Car

You may have noticed in the news last week of the results of a fatal accident inquiry of an accident in Edinburgh in 2022. In the accident a three-year-old called Xander Irvine was tragically killed when a car. Xander and his mother were walking along the High Street when a car coming the other way attempted a U turn but unfortunately mounted the kerb and hit Xander. The car was driven by Ms Edith Duncan a ninety-one-year-old who had undiagnosed dementia.

The tragedy described above is a nightmare to everyone. But if you have a relative say your dad or an older friend you might feel that they should give up driving. But this is a delegate matter that needs to be handled carefully. I recently took a GB Ageing Driver Course for Driving Instructors. I am also a qualified Fleet Trainer here I assess company car and van drivers. My experience as a driving instructor along with courses I have undertaken enable me to fairly assess a driver’s ability and to suggest things that they can do to help with their driving situation.
