Do You Know What a Red Cross Means On a Gantry Above A Motorway?

Apparently a large number of drivers do not know that they should not go past a red cross displayed on an overhead gantry on a motorway. It mean do not go pass this sign. The government are going to make change in the Highway Code so that drivers understand this better. Please see the link below.
